Your wedding is an occasion you (hopefully) only get one shot at celebrating, and when you don’t want to leave anything to chance, these are the people to call on.

Kimi Arya, Rainbow Chan, and Dianna Savelli are three experienced wedding planners we often work with at Harry Rosen, though today you don’t need to be their client to leverage their expertise. Which wedding themes/locations are trending for 2025?

KA: “This year, couples are prioritizing unique and meaningful experiences over traditional large-scale weddings, with two location trends in particular that stand out. Firstly, intimate restaurant weddings focusing on an elevated culinary experience and a warm, intimate atmosphere with fewer guests, top-tier food, personalized service, and more intentional details.

“Second, destination weddings, where couples embrace the idea of turning their wedding into a full-on getaway for their guests. Whether it’s a sun-soaked Caribbean escape, a romantic Italian countryside affair, or a chic European city elopement, destination weddings allow couples to celebrate in unique locations while giving guests an unforgettable mini-vacation.”

RC: “Destination weddings continue to rise in popularity, especially warm-weather destinations like Italy and Mexico. Modern garden weddings, intimate long-table receptions, and editorial-style city weddings in loft venues are also trending.”

DS: “In 2025, I'm noticing couples select wedding locations that may not be 'trendy' but are meaningful to them in some way. Couples this year are highly focused on curating a wedding that feels elegant and sophisticated, but at the same time, both authentic to them and comfortable for their guests.

“Whatever the location, couples want to curate their weddings in a way that will stand the test of time, not only in photos, but in the memories of them and their guests.”

What are the most popular seasons for weddings this year?

KA: “If you're having a local wedding, fall has become an incredibly popular season to say ‘I do’ – the natural foliage creates a beautiful backdrop, with warm, golden hues that make for perfect photo opportunities while the crisp air provides a relief from the heat of summer. That being said, spring and summer still hold their place as top contenders.

“Interestingly, winter weddings are also on the rise, especially for couples looking for a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Who wouldn’t want snow-dusted portraits that feel straight out of a fairytale?! Another perk – winter weddings are often more budget-friendly, as venues and vendors tend to have lower rates during the off-season.”

RC: “Fall remains a favourite season for weddings this year, adored for its rich tones and cozy atmosphere, while summer is ideal for destination celebrations. Spring is also gaining popularity for its fresh blooms and romantic ambiance while also being a less popular season for weddings and events, which means more likelihood your guests will be available.”

DS: “The seasons have shifted so much over the past few years. Now that we're seeing the summertime become such a rainy season here in Ontario, couples are gravitating to dates just before and just after the summertime.

“June has always been a popular month for weddings and that still holds true today, with the early to mid-June dates still reigning supreme. Mid to late September has also become one of the most popular seasons for couples as the summer humidity breaks and we see warm (but not hot) days and pleasantly cool evenings.”

What are grooms wearing this year? Any fashion trends?

KA: “Grooms in 2025 are embracing bold, personalized, and fashion-forward looks that break away from the traditional. While black and navy will always be timeless, grooms are stepping out in rich jewel tones like deep emerald, burgundy, and even warm caramel hues, though lighter shades like soft sage and dusty blue are also gaining popularity for spring and summer weddings.

“Fabric finishes like velvet, linen, and other unique blends help add depth and personality. In terms of style, double-breasted suits and tuxedos are also trending; this ultra-classic, powerful silhouette gives grooms a polished and confident appearance.”

RC: “This year, grooms are embracing more fashion-forward looks featuring textured fabrics, double-breasted jackets, and unique colour choices like deep greens, warm browns, and soft blues. Personalized details like embroidered monograms and statement accessories are also on the rise – things like pocket squares, cufflinks, and corsages are classics, but items like neckerchiefs, brooches, and bracelets are becoming increasingly popular too.”

DS: “I'm loving seeing my grooms put so much more thought into their wedding day ensembles than ever before! This year, most grooms are designing custom suits that not only coordinate with their wedding aesthetics but with their personal lifestyle as well. That way they can continue to wear their wedding pieces for years to come, both as an ensemble or mixed-and-matched with other outfits!

“Three-piece suits with a second custom jacket (to change into later) along with a sub-in pair of comfy shoes (I've seen everything from loafers to Nikes!) are also becoming very popular among grooms, allowing them to wear their more formal shoes during the vows but change into something comfier and with more personal flair for the party.”

What should a couple splurge on? What about save on?

KA: “Splurge on your photographer and cinematography team. When the wedding day is over, the one thing you’ll look back on for years to come are your photos and videos. Video is often overlooked, and then regretted post-wedding, so I highly recommend booking a talented videographer alongside your photographer.

“Save on wedding favours. Let’s be real – most guests don’t take them home, unless they’re edible (and even then, they’re often forgotten). Instead of spending thousands on trinkets, put that money toward an unforgettable guest experience, like a late-night station or live entertainment."

RC: “Splurge on photography and videography – you’ll cherish those memories forever. Save on wedding favours; guests appreciate thoughtful experiences over small tokens and takeaways. They might seem like fun in the moment, but if you’re looking for something to trim the budget, they’re easy cuts.”

DS: “Every couple's vision is so different, and there will always be nuances specific to every wedding. That said...

“Splurge on hiring professional creative partners who speak to you and make you feel confident they can make your dreams come true – especially when it comes to food, music, attire, and of course, your wedding planner!

“Save by cutting back on redundant details like unnecessary signage – and don't be afraid to skip guest favours as well. Trust me when I say, your guests won't even notice they're gone, especially if you've invested in the guest experience in other areas!”

What’s one word of advice you would give to couples planning their wedding in 2025?

KA: “Not to be biased, but… HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER! Having a professional by your side is truly invaluable and can save you thousands of hours between research, emails, calls, and decision-making so you can focus on what really matters: enjoying your engagement and looking forward to your big day.

“Your wedding day is likely the most expensive and emotionally significant day of your life, so why leave the execution up to chance? A planner is your eyes and ears behind the scenes, ensuring that all the moving parts come together seamlessly so you don’t have to worry about a thing.”

RC: “Focus on what truly matters — your love story. Trends come and go, but your wedding should reflect your personality and the experience you want to create for your guests. Whatver you decide, be authentic to who you are!”

DS: “Making any decisions for your wedding should come back to one thing: how does it make you feel?

“Always remember that your wedding is meant to be a celebration of you and your love - and you deserve to be celebrated in a way that every single element tugs at your heartstrings! It can be easy to get caught up in feeling like you need to have or do everything we see others doing online, but if something doesn't speak to you or make you feel excited, it's 100% okay to skip it in favour of something else that makes you smile - whether that something else is trendy or not!"
