Staff Picks: Summer Staples
Harry Rosen staff members speak to a few must-have items for this season of sun.
Navigating the summer in style is easier said than done – between heatwaves and humidity, dressing your best can prove challenging to say the least. In fact, thinking of things you don’t want to wear almost feels more intuitive.
However, sometimes all one needs to embrace the season’s hottest temperatures and make it through summer unscathed is some astute wardrobe advice.
From breezy button-up shirts to supple slip-on shoes, members of our Harry Rosen staff have offered their insight into a few of their favourite items that’ll help you enjoy the best of everything summer has to offer.
Textured Camp Collar Shirt, Zegna
“Camp Collar shirts aren’t just a seasonal trend, they’re a summertime staple in my eyes. Unlike a regular shirt collar, a Camp Collar doesn’t button all the way up to your neck – instead, it creates somewhat of a V-shape that allows more airflow between your shirt and skin, which keeps you feeling cool when temperatures are high.” – John Glennie, Fashion Direction Coordinator
Stretch-Cotton Drawstring Pants, Eleventy
“Pants aren’t always our first choice in the heat of high summer, but if the occasion calls for them, do yourself a favour and make sure they’re made of a nice lightweight material like this stretch-cotton blend. Plus, you can never go wrong with white pants in summer!” – Cailey Meade-Heinzl, Trade Marketing Specialist
Leather Tennis Sneakers, Tod’s
“Something about summer always makes me gravitate towards white sneakers, and when it comes to white sneakers, this is my absolute favourite pair from this season. They're made in Italy from a beautiful soft calfskin leather and the classic design elements mean they go with practically everything.”–Leon Dong, Offers & Promotions Specialist
Textured Linen Shorts, Brunello Cucinelli
"Shorts and summer go hand-in-hand for obvious reasons, but these super lightweight linen shorts take things one step further. Linen’s loose, open weave means these shorts will be extra breezy when you need them to be, and the neutral colour means you’ll be able to wear them with essentially everything.”- Jennifer Torrens, Planning Analyst
