Staff Picks: Luxury New Arrivals F/W ‘23
Shannon Stewart, Executive Vice President & Chief Product Officer, highlights which new-in items from our most coveted luxury brands she’s most excited about this season.
Determining what classifies as ‘true luxury’ is a subjective pursuit — what holds inherent value to one might not to the next. In the realm of menswear, however, it’s safe to say the heralded design minds at labels like Loro Piana, Kiton, and Brunello Cucinelli have earned the right to reach their own definitions.
Season after season, Harry Rosen’s Shannon Stewart, Executive Vice President & Chief Product Officer, continuously proves how well attuned her barometer for identifying true luxury is as well.
Offering her seasoned insight into which new-in items have piqued her interest this season, Stewart provides selects that encapsulate the spirit of luxury from some of our most prestigious brands.
Brunello Cucinelli Suede Hiking Boots
“A hiking boot is such a quintessential fall item, but the way that Brunello Cucinelli does it makes it a true ‘city’ or ‘polished’ hiking boot. Naturally, hiking boots could be worn with jeans and look great, but I like that this suede variation can be paired with flannel trousers and chunky sweater; I always love the texture of suede against other prominent textures. Because the sole is really well-defined, these can ground an outfit as they're capable of balancing out a chunkier top."
ZEGNA Oasi Cashmere Overshirt
“We’ve spoken a lot about the qualities of ZEGNA’s Oasi Cashmere Overshirt in the past, but I really love this particular Ice Blue colour. It’s so unexpected as we move into fall because people typically switch over to darker, earthier colours, but this one is such a great way to transition into the new season. And the fact these overshirts are made of cashmere is incredible to me because of how light they are. On a mild autumn day, it’s the perfect featherweight layer worn simply over a tee.”
Brioni Sustainable Wool Polo
“I like this piece because it’s quite understated but pretty incredible, as well as being something that not everyone would already have in their wardrobe. Despite it being a knit, it’s so sophisticated you could easily wear it with a jacket and it would look like a beautifully tailored shirt. That said, you can also wear it with a simple pair of 5-pocket pants and look really polished as well.”
Loro Piana Ivy Storm System Cashmere Bomber Jacket
“Nobody does cashmere outerwear better than Loro Piana, and if you open this jacket up, you’ll see why — it’s just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. The fabrication it’s composed in is Loro Piana’s iconic cashmere storm system, which is built to be waterproof and wind resistant, though those functions are almost secondary here. Usually, we’d buy this type of item in navy, black, or charcoal, but this dark green is such a luxurious colour; it’s very rich and when you think about trouser pairings, it’s also very versatile because of how deep the green is.”
Kiton Gingham Cashmere, Virgin Wool, and Silk-Blend Sport Jacket
“The colour combination and pattern on this sport jacket is so unique, I had to highlight this piece. Still afraid to wear white after Labour Day? Just look at the number of light-coloured pants and trousers made in fabric compositions that speak to fall. This jacket doesn’t showcase your typical fall colours, albeit, but it’s so rich and textured it’s hard not to say it’s an autumnal item.”
Brunello Cucinelli Wide Wale Corduroy Cargo Pants
“Not only are these white, they’re also both corduroy and cargos — now that’s a pant! This is such an interesting combination because it takes a utilitarian garment (cargo pants have their roots in workwear) and evolves its style with something really rich to the touch. Nothing says fall more than corduroy, but the crème, light vanilla colour is very unexpected for the season.”
