Brand Background:

While Fedeli started out in Monza, Italy in 1934 as a top hat maker, the family business soon broadened its horizons. It now produces a full range of made-in-Italy clothing, all of it maintaining the brand’s original focus on sharp detailing. By sourcing from certified organic cotton suppliers, Fedeli also demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability.

The company is now run by Luigi Fedeli – the third generation of his family to take the helm – and in 2016, Luigi brought his son Niccolò into the fold as well. The resulting blend of classic Italian heritage and fresh creative energy is most evident in Fedeli’s shirting and swimwear, which look smart and distinguished yet still manage to convey a sense of personality.

Our Team’s Take:

Brooke Lindzon, our Associate Buyer of Sportswear, is especially drawn to Fedeli’s varied colour scheme. Maintaining its signature balance of classic and contemporary, the brand covers many traditional bases – think navy, light blue and pastel pink – but also offers shirts and swim trunks in more unexpected hues like lavender, army green and yellow.

“I like that range because it allows someone to try the shirt in a classic colour first, and then come back for something bolder once they appreciate how comfortable the cut and fabric makes them feel,” Lindzon says. Sure enough, the clothing maker’s fabric is a major draw. “It’s very soft, lightweight and just perfect for a hot day,” she says.

How To Wear It:

The secret to making a bold impression during your next boardwalk stroll lies in matching your top to your swim trunks. For the warm weather ahead, Harry Rosen offers Fedeli’s shirting and swimwear in coordinating colours, and Lindzon is especially excited about the idea of taking a tonal approach to summer.

“I think pairing your shirt with a matching swimsuit is so unexpected and feels really novel. It’s an easy, breezy beach day uniform,” she says. Of course, Fedeli’s shirts are also versatile enough to serve as a go-to for any other summer outing, whether that’s a weekend barbecue or after-work patio drinks.
