For over 100 years, ZEGNA has cultivated a global reputation for producing sophisticated garments that transcend trends and offer a timeless expression of luxury. Guided by a philosophy that balances tradition and progression, the Italian label consistently sets new standards for both style and sustainability across the menswear industry.
For decades, ZEGNA has partnered with Harry Rosen, and as we celebrate our 70th year in business, we reflect on how our ongoing relationship has strengthened our ability to continue exceeding expectations.
Woven Through Generations
The brand’s pioneering beginnings date back to 1910 when Ermenegildo Zegna, started a wool mill in the mountains of Piedmont, northern Italy.
These premium woolen fabrics quickly distinguished themselves thanks to Zegna’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship. Zegna invested in more advanced machinery and began purchasing coveted fibres from countries around the world, including Mongolia, Australia, and South Africa.
In the ‘60s, the company further expanded, producing a stylish range of ready-to-wear tailoring.
Today, ZEGNA’s wide range of offerings spanning from custom-made tailoring and luxury leisurewear, to premium eyewear, accessories, and more are available in high-end retailers globally.
Harry and ZEGNA
Thanks to Harry Rosen’s personal fascination with fine Italian tailoring and fabrics, he often found himself in Italy researching the region’s best menswear. When he first travelled to Italy in the mid-70s, Harry fell in love with ZEGNA’s burgeoning ready-to-wear collection. After being introduced to Gildo Zegna, his namesake store became the first to introduce the ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA brand to North America.
Larry Rosen, Harry’s son and current Chairman and CEO of the company, explains that his father was “a really early adopter of ZEGNA,” and “recognized the inherent quality and craftsmanship that the Zegna family offered.” “Our families have been in business ever since,” he added.
ZEGNA in Canada
Since then, the partnership has continued to result in incredible mutual success, and Canadians have enjoyed second-to-none access to ZEGNA products at Harry Rosen locations across the country.
From our free-standing ZEGNA boutique in Vancouver’s Pacific Centre to our ZEGNA shop-in-shops across our stores in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa and most recently Edmonton, we are proud to offer the very best ZEGNA retail experience in Canada.
A Commitment to Community
Throughout its 110-year history, ZEGNA has nurtured its reputation for excellence and grown its influence as a leader in the global luxury industry with the brand’s name now ubiquitously associated with quality, legacy, and success.
From the very start, founder Ermenegildo Zegna believed in the virtues of creating world-class fabrics in harmony with both nature and local communities. Zegna believed the very best garments could only come from the very best materials.
Welcome to Oasi
ZEGNA’s commitment to conscious construction is represented throughout every brand touchpoint, but most notably by Oasi Zegna, the family’s natural territory in the Biella Alps of northern Italy. Oasi Zegna spans 100 km2 surrounding the Zegna family’s mills, embodying the brand’s commitment to merging luxury fashion with environmental stewardship.
Since 1929, Ermenegildo Zegna planted over 500,000 trees, developed local communities, and created a space where nature and industry coexist harmoniously. This deep respect for nature and the value of taking time to create something meaningful are integral to Zegna’s ethos, shaping the brand’s approach to luxury as something that should be both timeless and sustainable.
The Oasi Cashmere and Oasi Lino product ranges represent key milestones on ZEGNA’s Road to Traceability project, a commitment to create fully traceable fabric fibres from 2024 onward.
