Year after year, season after season, the HUGO BOSS brand consistently ranks among the highest-selling brands offered at our Harry Rosen stores. The demand for the brand’s collections is no mystery – BOSS creates stylish, well-made clothing, allowing their customers to create deep connections with the brand through trust, quality, and design excellence – core pillars of our very own brand at Harry Rosen.

The relationship between BOSS and Harry Rosen is a unique unity rarely found across the fashion ecosystem.

This is the story of how that relationship came to be, and why decades later, BOSS and Harry Rosen continue to grow together.

HUGO BOSS’ Beginnings

HUGO BOSS was founded by Hugo Ferdinand Boss in 1924 in Metzingen, Germany. The brand's journey began in a small factory producing workwear and has evolved into a global powerhouse in the fashion industry.

HUGO BOSS started by producing men's suits in the ‘50’s, which laid the groundwork for its future success, but by the mid-70s the rapidly evolving fashion tastes of modern men shifted. This resulted in the birth of BOSS, a subsidiary brand of HUGO BOSS, that was defined by single breasted suits with narrow shoulders. The 80’s put BOSS on the map in North America by dressing the hit show Miami Vice with a new oversized aesthetic in pastel colours.

The BOSS Revolution

Fine tailoring is still intrinsic to the brand’s DNA and features across every new collection. In the brand’s own words, BOSS is designed for bold, self-determined individuals who live life on their own terms with passion, style, and purpose.

Today, BOSS designs full collections for those who embrace individuality in clothing and lifestyle, combining its tailoring heritage with contemporary aesthetics. The brand’s discerning customer base relies on BOSS for everything from suits to denim to athleisure and more, plus a host of essential accessories for every occasion.

BOSS at Harry Rosen

Harry Rosen was one of the first retailers to bring BOSS to the Canadian market in 1983, marking the beginning of a decades-long relationship between the two brands.

Today, there are BOSS shop-in-shops in 14 Harry Rosen locations nationwide, including one at our flagship store on Bloor Street in Toronto, which was ceremonially opened in 2014 by BOSS ambassador and British yachtsman Alex Thomson.

Partners in Style

Over the years, BOSS’ relationship with Harry Rosen has only continued to grow, and in no small part due to the shared values and commitment to excellence between both brands.

From dedicated BOSS Weeks, which feature perks and rewards with every purchase, to exclusive product launches and promotions that further enhance the brand’s desirability across Canada, Harry Rosen continues to exemplify why it’s a top destination for BOSS enthusiasts to access their favourite brand.

Star Power

Over the years, many celebrities and people of influence have been associated with BOSS, including a notable upcoming collaboration with David Beckham. From all-star athletes to record-breaking musicians to A-list actors and beyond, BOSS’ numerous connections to many of the world’s biggest names showcase that the brand has become synonymous with success.

One recent memory stands out in particular – in 2016, Harry Rosen himself, along with his wife Evelyn, attended the film premiere of La La Land at the Toronto International Film Festival, which included a party hosted by BOSS. Also in attendance was Ryan Gosling, the Canadian actor starring in the film, who made a special effort to have his photo taken with Harry, admitting that his namesake store was where he bought his very first suit.

Looking Forward

The partnership between BOSS and Harry Rosen is poised to continue flourishing, with more exclusive collaborations, memorable events, and innovative offerings promised to come. As BOSS and Harry Rosen look ahead, their legacy and partnership remain a testament to the power of collaboration and shared vision.
